THE BRIEF
This City Is Campaign
Our Colchester, the City’s Business Improvement District, approached Yoghurt Creative to produce a library of photography for their ‘This City Is’ campaign, a city-wide initiative celebrating everything Colchester has to offer.
The objective was to showcase the City’s diverse leisure scene, encouraging more people to discover, explore and support local businesses. From well-known restaurants and independent cafés to cultural venues, entertainment spaces and hidden gems, we were tasked with capturing the energy, creativity and character that make Colchester such a vibrant place to visit, work and spend time.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Photography that feels lived-in.
For this campaign, our creative direction centred around authenticity. Rather than relying on heavily staged imagery, we wanted every photograph to feel like a genuine moment, capturing the atmosphere, personality and character of each venue through our documentary-style approach.
By blending realism with a creative eye, we focused on the details that make each business unique: the conversations between friends over dinner, the anticipation before a live performance, the craftsmanship behind a cocktail and the welcoming faces behind local businesses. Every image was carefully composed while allowing the moments themselves to unfold naturally, creating photography that feels honest, engaging and full of life.

The final collection of photography provided Our Colchester with a versatile library of campaign assets that celebrated the city’s vibrant leisure scene and the people behind it. Used across digital marketing and promotional campaigns, the imagery helped bring the ‘This City Is’ campaign to life, encouraging residents and visitors alike to explore everything Colchester has to offer.
By combining documentary-style storytelling with considered composition, we created a body of work that felt authentic, inviting and representative of the City’s unique character; giving Our Colchester a timeless collection of photography that continues to showcase the very best of the city.
